President Jair Bolsonaro (no party) deployed two helicopters, unscheduled, to travel this Saturday (the 17th) to the city of Goianápolis (GO), about 190 kilometers from Brasília. Without using a mask, the president left the Palácio do Alvorado [Brazil’s White House] and landed in a fenced-in soccer field, around which people of all ages had gathered to greet him. Against health protocols, Bolsonaro, who did not use a mask, extended his hand to several people who were squeezed up against the fence, including elderly, who are in the at-risk group for Covid-19. As can be seen on images posted on the internet, Bolsonaro took pictures, shook at least 144 hands, touched his face with his hands, patted children’s heads, and put on a child’s hat before taking a baby in his arms.
