The Taxman Cometh

The Brazilian version of the U.S.’s Internal Revenue Service is widely known as the “leão” - the lion. Taxpayers are referred to as “contribuintes” - contributors. That ironic duality of a large predator coming after the money of purportedly charitable donors nicely sums up the convoluted Brazilian tax code, which has over 60 different kinds of taxes.
