Jessé Gomes da Silva Filho, better known as Zeca Pagodinho, has been recovering from Covid-19, sending messages from the hospital encouraging people to get vaccinated. The 62-year-old, who was fully vaccinated, told his fans and well-wishers:
Obrigado por todos que oraram por mim. Já estou terminando o tratamento e o importante é se vacinar para poder se recuperar mais rápido. Em breve estaremos aí pelo mundo.
Thank you to everyone who prayed for me. I am finishing up treatment and the important thing is to get vaccinated so you can recover more quickly. Soon we will back out there in the world.
In the spirit of that attitude, here is a translation of his “Deixa a vida me levar” (“Let life take me”), released in 2018.
“Let life take me”
I have already been through almost everything in this life
In terms of refuge, I’m still waiting my turn
I confess that I am of low birth, but my heart is noble
That’s how God made me
And let life take me (Life take me)
Let life take me (Life take me)
I am happy and thankful
For everything that God gave me
I can only raise my hands to the sky
Give thanks and be faithful to the destiny God gave me
If I don’t have everything I need, with what I have, I live
Peacefully there I go
If things don’t turn out the way I want
I also don’t despair, the trick is to let it be
And by fits and starts there I go
I am happy and thankful for everything God gave me
