Laughter

You might think that AH, AH, AH is the sound someone makes when they’re about to sneeze or possibly when they’re starting to understand something. But actually it’s what we would usually render in English as HA, HA, HA. Another way Brazilians render laughter that might look a little backwards to English speakers is IH, IH, IH, which is the equivalent of HEE, HEE, HEE. Anyone who has ever texted with a Brazilian has probably seen kkkkkk which is a cackling sort of laughter (think Popeye). If you see rsrsrsrs, that’s more what I would call a chortle. Since a Portuguese “r” is often more like an American “h” sound (so maybe more Muttley).
