Happy Birthday, Roberto Carlos!
Roberto Carlos has sold more albums than anyone else in the history of MPB (Brazilian popular music) with over 140 million! What more appropriate song for his birthday then than “As canções que você fez para mim” (“The songs you wrote for me”) from his 1968 album “O inimitável Roberto Carlos” (“The Inimitable Roberto Carlos”)?
“The songs you wrote for me”
Today I listen to the songs that you wrote for me
I don’t know why everything changed like this
The songs remained and you didn’t
You forgot so many things you once told me
So many things that stayed just between us
I don’t think you remember anymore
It’s so hard to look at the world and see
What still exists
Because without you my world is different
My joy is sad
How many times did you tell me you loved me so much
How many times did I dry your tears
And now I’m crying along without you here
