This is the second of my “New releases” translations and once again that name isn’t quite right. (Yesterday’s post was a song that was actually written a decade ago.) This Franco-Brazilian duo (Páula vocals and producer Povoa) does have some 2026 releases (including Joker and Praia Bonita) but their more recent tracks are less “traditional lyrics” than repeated phrases and scat-like vocalizations. Still enjoyable and worth a listen, but they don’t lend themselves as well to lyrics translation as well as this song, which was written when PPJ was still a trio (including mixer Jerge). My primary source for the newer, somewhat more obscure music in this “New releases” series is NPR’s marvelous Alt Latino, which is where I first heard a 2023 re-edit of this song by PPJ and CamelPhat.

The word “vibrando” does carry the meaning of the English word it sounds like, but it’s more complex than just “vibrating.” It’s also the verb used to describe a crowd of fans cheering as well as something more like “pulsing”—which in turn is much more in sync with the techno sound of this music. Other options include “shaking” and “fluttering” but I’ve chosen to go with the intentionally suggestive “throbbing.”

There’s a very 2020 message in Portuguese at the beginning of the first link below. It says (with Páula’s voiceover): Hello kids, how are you? Uhh… The world is chaotic, isn’t it? I’m still in Rio de Janeiro, but I’m thinking about traveling, wanting to meet up with you to make music! Let’s go? Let’s go play?! Wanting to enjoy the spring too! Kiss And now it’s spring in Brazil, so let’s go!

“Primavera”
Tudo vibrando
Sinto tudo no meu corpo
Tudo vibrando
Nesse lugar que eu quero nosso
Eu linda, distraída
Pelo amor desse dia
Queria ser o vento
Queria ser o canto
Tudo o que tu toca
É isso que me chama
Tudo vibrando
Nesse lugar que eu quero nosso
Tudo vibrando
Está nascendo um gigante sorriso
No coração terá sempre
Um céu azul e sem nuvem
Muita leveza, muita graça
Igual a tu primavera
Queria ser o vento
Queria ser o canto
Tudo o que tu toca
É isso que me chama
E no meio dе tudo
Vivo apaixonada
Pelo o seu cheiro
Tе amo primavera

“Spring”
Everything throbbing
I feel everything in my body
Everything throbbing
In this place I want to be ours
Me beautiful, careless
Out of love for this day
I wish I were the wind
I wish I were a song
Everything you touch
That’s what calls me
Everything throbbing
In this place I want to be ours
Everything throbbing
A giant smile is rising
In my heart there will always be
A blue cloudless sky
Full of lightness, full of grace
Just like you spring
I wish I were the wind
I wish I were a song
Everything you touch
That’s what calls me
And in the middle of everything
I’m always infatuated
With your smell
I love you spring
