“Amanhãs Azuis” (Infinito Latente, 2026)
As I noted with my last translation, my posts here are often tied to birthdays or other events, but my current run of translations features the most recent songs I think I’ve ever posted so the artists don’t yet have enough of an internet presence for me to even determine their birthdays. As the biggest winter storm of the season hits the upper Midwest (a week before the official start of spring here in the north), I’m thrilled to offer the translation of not only a new song but of a brand new band, Infinito Latente (Latent Infinite, I guess!). The group, formed in the Vale do Paraíba where São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro states meet, features Maira Bastos, João Dussam, Igor Sganzerla, and Pedro Sardenha; this song comes from their debut album “Sem Início Nem Fim” (“With No Beginning Nor End”).
“Amanhãs Azuis”
Feito manhã
Florescendo em seus olhos
Rio e mar
Brisa brinca no vento
Cor de maçã
O sabor da tua face
Cor de sal
Céu e chão, movimento
Apesar de tanta saudade
Faz sentir tanta presença
Sei quantos dias tem no mês
Me dê talvez
Motivos para acreditar de novo
No mundo que cê prometeu
Do fundo desses olhos seus
Mil amanhãs azuis
“Blue Tomorrows”
Becoming morning
Flowering in your eyes
River and sea
Breeze plays on the wind
The color of apples
The taste of your face
The color of salt
Sky and ground, movement
Despite so much longing
Making so much presence felt
I know how many days there are in a month
Give me perhaps
Reasons to believe again
In the world you promised
From the depths of those eyes of yours
A thousand blue tomorrows
