The song “Um dia de domingo” (“A Sunday day”) was written by Michael Sullivan and Paulo Massadas and first recorded by Gal Costa and Tim Maia on the album “Bem Bom” (“Very Good”) in 1985. In Gal’s solo live version in the link below, she tries to imitate the unique sound of Tim’s voice when it comes to “his” part of the song, to the audience’s delight.
“A Sunday day”
I need to talk to you,
To meet you no matter what
To sit and chat
Then walk to meet the wind.
I need to breathe
The same air that surrounds you
And on my skin I want to feel
The same sun that tans you,
I need to touch you
And see you smiling again,
And meet you in a beautiful dream
I can no longer live
A senseless feeling,
I need to discover
The emotion of being with you
To see the sun rise
And see life happen
Like a Sunday day.
Pretend that it’s still early
Everything will be about emotion
Pretend that it’s still early,
And let your heart’s voice speak.
