According to genius.com: “Written by João Apolinário and João Ricardo, this song is a contrast between feelings of despair and hope, wrapped in a game of back and forth between words about overcoming problems. The title highlights a comparison between [the season] responsible for flowery days full of colors [and] a smile capable of producing the same effect.” This song was on Secos & Molhados first (self-titled) album, released in 1973. This is the longest song the band recorded, running almost 5 minutes. (The lyrics start at about 2:50.)

Listen to the song.

Springtime in your teeth
Whoever has the conscience to have courage
Whoever has the power to know that they exist
And in the middle of their own gears
Invents the counter-force that resists

Whoever doesn’t hesitate even defeated
Whoever already lost never despairs
And surrounded by a storm, butchered
Holds springtime between their teeth
