* This line is repeated several times in the Damien Rice song that inspired this version by Ana Carolina and Seu Jorge. While the Portuguese song is clearly a cover version that riffs on both tune and lyrics, I really think that this line is the where the Brazilians truly develop the idea into something else entirely. That and their voices, separately and together…

** The original “É isso aí” that gives the Portuguese cover version its name is clearly taken from the original’s “And so it is,” but I prefer the more definitive and direct “That’s it.”
