In English, you can read a “magazine” (revista in Portuguese), but in Portuguese you shop at a magazine (“department store”).

In Brazil, you can safely drink a refrigerante ("soda” or is it “pop”?), but in the U.S. you should definitely NOT drink “refrigerant” (actually the same word, but context is everything).

In English, if you “record” (gravar) a “record” (disco), I bet you’ll “remember” (recordar) it.

The English “baton” is either batuta (in a musical context) or cassetete (in a police context), but it’s definitely not “lipstick” (batom).

It’s time for me to “exit” (sair), I hope with some “success” (êxito).
