In honor of Thiaguinho’s 40th birthday, a translation of the first track from his 2013 album “Outro Dia, Outra História” (“Another Day, Another Story”). The title “Caraca, Muleke” combines an interjection of surprise with a modernized/creative spelling of “moleque,” a word for “boy” or “kid” that also carries a little flavor of brattiness and street savvy that has led me to translate it as “son” in the title but “dude” in the lyrics.
“Wow, son”
[spoken] Wow, some kind of day, huh?
Today is asking for it
[sung] Wow, son! What a day! What’s up?
Put on some pagode so we can chill
Sun, beach, bikini, a night out
I’m opening a cold one to cool off
I got my health, I got money
Thank God and my warriors
Everything’s set, I’m ready to pop
Today I’m all about that craziness dude!
And when I’m like this
It’s all an adventure
Take your hands off me
Nobody holds me back
Stick with me
Cuz I’m gonna shine!
Today I’m all in!
