“20 e Poucos Anos” (Fábio Jr., 1979)
In honor of Fábio Jr.’s 70th birthday, a translation of a song from his 1979 self-titled album, “20 e Poucos Anos,” which he appropriately recorded in his twenties. The link below is to a live version from his forties in which he seems quite wistful about his bygone youth. One wonders how he feels about that now.
“20 something”
You already know, you know me really well
I can go, I go much further
Than you imagine
I don’t give up so easy, my love
From the things I want to do and haven’t yet done
In life everything has its prices, its value
And all I want from this life is to be happy
I don’t give up
Not for you not for anybody
I don’t change my plans
I want to know a lot more than my 20 something years
There are people still waiting for me to tell
The news that I’m already tired of knowing
I know, there are also people fooling me, right
But how silly, it’s already time to grow up
